This week we’re helping out Save-A-Pet of Niagara County by making our own homemade dog treats! Once they are made, please return them to the library and we will get them to Save-A-Pet for their next basket raffle! Niagara County’s homeless pets thank you! Stop by the library to pick up your kit–please note all of our weekly kits will be on a “first come, first served” basis. However, if any are still leftover after the week is done, they will be available to take.
In Your Kit:
- Cookie cutter(s)
- Treat bag
Additional items:
- ½ cup canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling)
- ½ cup of water
- 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup oats
- 2 cup whole wheat flour
Directions:
Recipe should yield approx. 2 dozen dog treats
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine pumpkin, water, oil, cinnamon
- Mix well with mixer
- Gradually add oats & flour to form a dough
- Roll dough to ¼” thickness & cut with cookie cutter
- Bake on parchment paper on cookie sheets for 30-35 minutes
- Once cooled, package up treats in the plastic bag provided and return to the library.
