Welcome to Week 3 of our Tails & Tales Summer Reading Program! We went bird watching back in February, but let’s look for summer birds this time! Please note with the rising cases of an unidentified illness sweeping the East coast’s song bird population, we are changing our activity for this week. Please be aware bird experts are recommending people take down their bird feeders (including hummingbird feeders) and bird baths until the source of the disease is identified. Click here for more information.
How many birds can you see in your backyard? In the local park? In your neighborhood as you take a walk? Use our bird watching guide to help you play BIRD BINGO! Get 4 in a row, bring in your card, and get a prize!
Stop by the library to pick up your bird watching guide and BINGO card–please note all of our weekly kits will be on a “first come, first served” basis. However, if any are still leftover after the week is done, they will be available to take. For more information about the birds you see, visit audubon.org to see photos, hear their calls, and much more! Happy bird watching! While out bird watching and you see a bird exhibiting symptoms of this disease, please contact the DEC at (716) 851-7010.
